Family sponsorship is actually the largest source of migration to Canada.

There are a number of criteria one has to meet prior to qualifying as a sponsor, such as age, resident status, in some cases income. Similarly, there are criteria that may prevent individuals from being a sponsor. For example, issues with the law, if it’s a spousal sponsorship and you previously sponsored another partner and the undertaking has not yet lapse, etc.

Persons being sponsored also need to meet admissibility requirements, which include but not limited to certain health conditions, issues with law, relation depending on the type of sponsorship etc.
